PISE Hosts 12th Annual TD Family Sport & Recreation Festival

(Victoria, BC – April 24, 2023) PISE (Pacific Institute for Sport Education) is excited to announce that the TD Family Sport & Recreation Festival will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 11 am – 3 pm at PISE.

TD Bank Group is the Title Sponsor of the 12th Annual Family Sport & Recreation Festival. Cohosted by PISE and the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame, the festival is a free half-day of
interactive sport and recreation activities for the family, located at PISE on Camosun College’s Interurban campus.

“We are so pleased to welcome TD as the Title Sponsor of our beloved Family Sport & Recreation Festival. The community looks forward to this event each May, welcoming over 2,000 people to experience the joy of being active and trying new sports and activities. With support from TD, we will be able to continue to offer an outstanding, inclusive festival experience with a wide variety of fun experiences for the whole family,” says Robert Bettauer, CEO of PISE.

“We’re proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Family Sport & Recreation Festival,” sys Bruce Gray, District Vice President, Vancouver Island for TD. “Not only does this event inspire kids and adults alike to be active and try new activities, it also brings people together to make meaningful connections through sport.”

The festival features various activities for all ages and ability levels, from team sports such as soccer, rowing, and hockey to individual sports – skating, swimming, karate, and more. In addition to the activities, the festival will kick off with a race around the track for kids led by Sasha Perron, a Kwakwaka’wakw athlete, in memory of those lost in residential schools.

“Running is a way to support my family, friends, community and survivors, bringing people together to navigate, heal and move through the trauma of Residential School. Since 2021, I have raised over $30,000 for Residential School funds and charities,” says Perron.

Food trucks will be onsite for snack and lunch options and there will be a raffle to help raise funds for PISE’s charitable activities.
