As a former elite athlete, Luciano has a unique understanding of the psychological pressures and struggles that athletes experience. He is very enthusiastic about the role that athletics play in mental health and well being, and believes that performance in sport is inextricably linked with mental health. Luciano strives to integrate his experience as an athlete with his approach in both counselling and supporting athletes with performance enhancement.
Luciano’s passion lies in empowering individuals and teams to overcome challenges, enhance focus, boost motivation, build confidence and resilience, and excel in high-pressure environments. This can be achieved by optimizing their mental game through working on performance enhancement, stress management, and goal setting. He also believes in treating each client as a unique individual and aims to make a meaningful impact on the achievements and well-being of his clients through a personalized coaching approach with evidence-based interventions that are tailored to athlete’s specific needs and goals. Luciano is dedicated to providing the support necessary for progress and success, as well as the tools required to achieve your highest potential.
Luciano completed his Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree with a combined major in biology and psychology through the University of Victoria, where he also played on the Vikes men’s hockey team. In the time that followed, he played professionally in Europe for two seasons before completing his Master of Counselling through City University. He is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), an apprentice member and provisional Mental Performance Consultant with the Canadian Sport Psychology Association (CSPA), and a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

As a consultant with PISE since 2008, Christie has counselled individual athletes, performing artists, coaches, parents and teams in multiple sports ranging from recreational to professional levels and at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Working in a collaborative manner, clients will learn personalized practical methods to integrate mental skills and tools into their daily training routines to enhance performance and personal growth.
A Springfield College graduate in Athletic Counselling and Psychological Services, Christie has operated her private practice for over 23 years and continues to work on her professional development to provide the best care possible for clients.
Currently, she is working with the Canadian Sport Institute-Pacific and holds professional memberships with the Canadian Sport Psychology Association (CSPA), the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She is also a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists.

Dr. Bruce Pinel is an innovative and leading practitioner who has been working in the area of mental performance in a wide range of ‘high performance environments’ for almost 3 decades. Dr. Pinel’s experiences include:
- working with Canadian athletes and teams at multiple major international events including the Olympics, Paralympics, Pan American Games, Commonwealth Games, and World Championships;
- working with individuals at all age ranges of sport and athletic pursuits towards overall performance, health, and wellness;
- providing performance consulting to high-demand work environment clients & organizations;
- being part of multi-disciplinary health care teams in the area of injury rehabilitation & health management for 20 years (WSBC, LTD / IRS, ICBC, and other 3rd Party Funders);
- providing leadership and expertise as a keynote speaker at multiple conferences in both the high performance and health care fields; and
- being an Adjunct Professor (University of Victoria – School of Exercise Science, Physical & Health Education), having taught graduate and undergraduate courses in a variety of areas related to sport psychology, health, active living, and recreation.
