The Victoria Wheelchair Sports Club and PISE are proud to offer a Strength & Conditioning program designed specifically for people with physical or cognitive limitations. This program will take place in PISE’s main Fitness Centre, focusing on mobility, functionality and stability, while taking into account your sport and/or fitness needs.

Power Sports

Our Power Sports program is for kids of all ages who use a power mobility chair, manual chair, walker, or who are interested in learning various Paralympic sports and Power sports! Each week we will delve into the elements of either power hockey, power soccer, and boccia. Participants will explore movement skills such as throwing, rolling, kicking, wheeling, and passing as well as learning strategy and team work through fun games and activities.

Accessible Fitness

The Accessible Gym Program allows a space for all individuals diagnosed with a disability or illness to access our Fitness Centre. At this time, the Fitness Centre will be closed to the general public and will solely be open to our program participants. Strength & Conditioning Coaches will be there to provide workout guidance, lift assistance, and expertise. To help with sensory distractions/limitations, music and lights will be lowered; and noise reduction strategies will be in place. PISE has an assortment of lifting and grip aids that participants can borrow if needed. Also, accessible cardio equipment will be available for all participant use during their workouts. This is a sensory friendly space/time that any individual can drop in to, register for, or attend if they have a PISE membership.

Wheelchair Basketball

Did you know that over a third of wheelchair basketball athletes can walk? Come and join this fast-paced, competitive sport that offers an incredible upper body workout. Participants will be provided with basic instruction including chair skills, shooting techniques and on-court strategy. Sport chairs will be provided. All ages and abilities welcome.
